BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

Do you want to be part of a challenging research on 3D plasma-sheath-lenses for applications on nanofabrication technologies involving thin film deposition, etching and implantation? The Plasma Aided Nanotechnology group at DTU Nanolab is looking for a PhD student to join this research activity.

If you are interested in plasma-based nanofabrication processes this position offers a unique opportunity to acquire hands-on research expertise on thin film deposition, etching and ion implantation by employing our new concept of ion beam extraction by 3D plasma-sheath-lenses.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The PhD scholarship combines ion beam extraction and characterization with surface induced processes. Your responsibility includes plasma and ion beam diagnostics (tunable energy, linear distribution, ion species) and further use of the ion beam to deposit semiconducting thin films, etch metal oxide and nitride thin films and provide additional doping by ion implantation. A broad range of surface characterization methods are to be employed, including 2D screening of optoelectronic properties (transmittance, band gap, carrier concentration, mobility), analytical characterization by XPS and XRD, and morphological properties by SEM and AFM. You will collaborate closely with other members of a new project that includes direct collaboration with two companies active in semiconductor industry (Polyteknik A/S and PragmatIC Semiconductor Ltd).

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

To be considered for this opportunity, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Strong motivation to plan and execute complex tasks based on existing project goals.
  • Strong scientific background in physics, engineering, and materials.

Additionally, we expect candidates to have relevant experience in minimum two of the following specific areas:

  • Plasma diagnostics
  • Thin film deposition by magnetron sputtering or ion beam
  • Plasma etching
  • Plasma immersion ion implantation
  • Characterization of thin films

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education

Assessment
The evaluation of applicants will be conducted by the group leader Eugen Stamate in collaboration with other project members.
