Project
The project is dedicated to rational design, synthesis and testing of new nucleic acid analogues for gene editing and for targeting pathogens in the brain.Our work has a goal to improve the current issue of missing knowledge on CRISPR Cas9 system. To address this, we will develop and test new nucleoside and oligonucleotide analogues that sense guide RNA – Cas9 interactions.Moreover, we will perform conjugation of nucleoside analogues with molecular tags for targeted tissue delivery.It is a goal of our work to improve the performance of CRISPR Cas9 with targeting and rational design of guide RNA.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within computational modeling of design and optimization of components for the development of new energy technologies. You will work closely with colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD Students
  • Plan and carry out the studies of the project
  • Trouble shoot the potential problems with your experiments
  • Report results to immediate supervisor, collaborators and DTU PhD school on a regular basis
  • Prepare research paper drafts and manage submission and revision processes
  • Attend relevant courses 
  • Complete the project with preparing and submitting thesis

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. It is a requirement to have a solid experience with organic synthesis.

Approval and Enrolment  
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education

The assessment of the applicants will be made by supervisor Asc Prof Kira Astakhova.

Salary and appointment terms 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years. Preferred starting date is 15.9.2023.
