BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

A PhD studentship in cell and molecular biology of sterol transport proteins funded by a Novo Nordisk Foundation Hallas Møller Grant is available at the Department of Chemistry at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project will be under the supervision of Associate Professor Luca Laraia and will start on 1 October 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. You will join a young and dynamic research team working at the interface of chemistry and biology.

Project Description and responsibilities
One of the main goals of our research group is the identification of selective modulators and tool compounds for sterol transport proteins to study their basic biology and translational potential. You will develop a range of tools to measure target engagement and selectivity of small molecules towards sterol transporters in cells, and study their role in lipid homeostasis using proteomics, lipidomics and more. The project is in close collaboration with other group members including synthetic chemists, protein biochemists and the proteomics and metabolomics core facilities.

Qualifications
You should have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points, or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree) in chemical biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry or a related field. Experience with standard cell and molecular biology techniques is required. Experience with -omics technologies is not essential, but a strong desire to learn new techniques in a multidisciplinary environment is crucial. Most importantly, you should be ambitious and highly motivated, able to work independently and should be confident in both written and spoken English.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education
